Maryfran Wachunas Public Health Scholarship

This scholarship was established by colleagues and friends in honor of the retirement of Rensselaer County Public Health Director and Deputy County Executive, Maryfran Wachunas. Maryfran’s distinguished career was dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of the community.
Awarded to a student enrolled in the Community and Public Health Certificate Program who displays empathy, kindness and the desire to better their community through means of Public Health. Preferred candidate would show past or current volunteer efforts within their community, maintain a GPA of 2.5 and communicate what Public Health means to them. Student should show interest in addressing the social determinants of public health, disparities as well as current or emerging health trends.
